Work with me

I love developing recipes that I have created after one of my “I wonder if that will work?” moments. The fun of working on a recipe until I feel it is just right is one of the key driving forces in my cooking.

And I do like to tweak a recipe, whether it is one of my own or someone else’s, while trying to remain true to the heart of it!

Magazine publications & baking projects

I am always happy to share cooking ideas or donate recipes from this website, or specifically create a recipe to a given brief: a creative challenge is always right up my street!

I have been very honoured to have been able to create recipes and provide key cooking tips for various publications, including: Brilliant Baking Magazine; Home Farmer Magazine; Delicious Magazine, Sainsbury’s Magazine; Food Heaven Magazine; BBC Good Food Magazine

The photos on this page are of some of my recipes I am most proud of. Not least, my white chocolate, strawberry & passion fruit cake that I created for Sainsbury’s Magazine which, I found out while I was filming Britain’s Best Home Cook, had been voted by readers as their best-ever celebration cake.

Best-ever Celebration Cake from the 25 years of Sainsbury’s Magazine.

With magazines it is always a joy to be able to see my recipes alongside those written by professional chefs and bakers I have been inspired by for years.

A cookery book wish

It is very much one of my ambitions to extend my recipe writing from both this website and those I have done for magazines to write a cookery book: I have so many book ideas, with a few of the ideas already planned out, even down to the key recipes………..

I am overjoyed that many of my own recipes have been published in the Britain’s Best Home Cook book, including both of my dishes from the Final: my beef wellington and my sticky ginger and tamarind puddings: that is seriously a dream come true and I am so proud of this achievement.

And while there are many of my own recipes on this website, there are many hundreds more recipes both in my head and scribbled down: some are just at the idea stage, many are being developed and many more are raring to go!

Cooking promotions

In terms of food-related promotions, I have also very much enjoyed working the following, having created recipes for them at various times:

Cooking demonstrations and masterclasses

I have been delighted to have been invited to deliver several cookery demonstrations, group masterclasses and one-to-one informal cooking lessons around my area (Surrey, UK), which has been an exciting area of development for me.

I love combining my passion for baking and the skills I use every day as a teacher. And it is so rewarding to see others have the confidence and the enthusiasm to then “have a go” themselves with their cooking.

Recent demonstrations and lessons I have delivered have focused on:

  • chocolate work
  • Thai cookery
  • canapés
  • choux pastry
  • macarons
  • bread making
  • BBQ cooking
  • cooking with seasonal produce
  • preparing Afternoon Tea
  • I have also given a cake decorating demonstration at the Elmbridge Food Festival, as well as giving a food demonstrations at the Surrey County Show, the Eat Food Festival in Reigate, the Woking Food and Drinks Festival and the Farnham Food Festival.

Would you like to work with me?

If you are interested in working with me in any capacity, please don’t hesitate to contact me here. I am based in Surrey UK, although I often run food-related events around London and the SouthEast of England.

Areas I particularly enjoy and have experience in include:

  • food writing
  • giving demonstrations
  • teaching cookery skills
  • talks about cooking
  • talks about home-grown produce and using in the kitchen
  • hosting supper clubs

Please get in touch if you have a quirky food-related idea: and I do have a weakness for quirky!

Please also get in contact with me if you would like to use any of my recipes on this website in a publication.

Best wishes and happy cooking,

Philip
